Language Schools in Barcelona

Despite Barcelona being the capital of Catalonia, Spanish is still the most common language in the city. This is due to its large population of people from all over Spain, as well as South American’s and Spanish-speaking foreigners. Barcelona is one of the most beautiful places in the world to learn Spanish, and what better way to learn it than by studying at a language school. Below is a list of some of the best language schools in the city.

Speakeasy BCN

This centrally located school (just five minutes from Plaza Catalunya) is one of the best in the city and also one of the cheapest. It offers a wide variety of courses, for both longer and shorter periods. The school offers evening courses, cultural courses and also private classes. The teachers also organise various activities every week including bike tours of the city and beach days. This school is very helpful with finding their students accommodation in homestays, apartments or in rooms within student residences. Almost all of the accommodations are within 20 minutes of the school and near public transport.

Linguaschools

This school is housed in a beautiful old colonial building, around the corner from Plaza Catalunya. Behind the building is a quiet garden, a little oasis in the busy city centre where students can sit and relax between classes. The average group size of the class is between 3 and 7 people, so the individual attention that you will receive in these classes is excellent. Private classes are also available. When booking on to a course at this school you can also book your airport transfer within the same booking, from either Barcelona or Girona airport.

Cervantes International School

This school is another outstanding place to study, as the teachers have many years of experience and the group sizes are small. The intensive courses at this school are particularly good, offering 10, 20 or 30 lessons of 50 minutes per week. This is the perfect language school for younger people, as 69% of students who study here are between 17 and 35. If you are a university student, this school can arrange for you to gain credits for your course. The school is located in the Sants area and is close to the Sants Estació and Entença metro stations.

Camino Barcelona

This school is centrally located and offers a wealth of different courses. All teachers are native speakers and the group sizes are perfect. The biggest draw of this school is its accommodation. While most language schools in Barcelona will help their students find accommodation, this is the only school in Barcelona that has its own onsite accommodation. The school has 10 student flats, kitted out with a kitchen, dining room and TV. In addition, the school has several sunny terraces where students can chill out and socialize. If you’re looking for a very sociable experience, this is one of the best schools in the city.

Olé Languages

This school is located in the buzzy neighbourhood of El Raval. This area is alive both day and night, with its many bars and restaurants. The school itself is an excellent, professional learning space. It has a computer room and a library, where you can take out Spanish books and DVDs to help you with your studies. The school offers intensive courses, evening courses and also more casual conversation lessons. The school is also very flexible and students can extend their courses week by week if they find that they don’t want to leave! This is a great school if you are looking for something smaller and more relaxed.
