Portal de l’Angel
A Barcelona pedestrian street in the district of Ciutat Vella and directly adjascent to Placa Catalunya, you will find the ever-popular Portal de l’Angel. One of the largest shopping areas throughout the city, it is also easily the most visited street as well and is constantly crowded with both tourists and locals. Almost just as expensive as Passeig de Gracia, Portal de l’Angel has an average rental price of 265 euro per square meter (as of 2013).
One of the most well known stores is in fact the massive El Corte Ingles department store, found just opposite a building that has giant thermometer in its façade. The other more popular stores include the following:
Easily accessible by the public metro lines, tourists will find that Portal de l’Angel is a fun and exciting place to wander around and find both higher end products and more reasonably priced products as well. Due to its popularity, you will most likely find massive crowds, especially if visiting the shopping area during Fridays and Saturdays.
One of the most fascinating and intriguing aspects about Portal de l’Angel is that on one end of the shopping area, you start out within a very lively and bustling part but as you continue down on through to the end, you will be brought into a part of the city that is known to be much more peaceful and medieval.
No matter where you start or end, Portal de l’Angel is a fantastic place to spend the morning or afternoons at walking the streets, browsing through the many shops and discovering all that this area has to offer!
