Barcelona's Beaches

There are 4.2 km of golden sandy beaches in Barcelona - and only 10 minutes from the city center! The closest hot spot is Barceloneta, located just a few hundred meters from Barcelona's main area. This beach is accessible from the "Barceloneta" metro stop,  and is very popular throughout the many sunny months in Barcelona. Not only is swimming popular, but windsurfing and kite surfing can be seen here almost every day, as well.

Another popular spot is Icaria Beach, located near "Ciutadella Vila Olimpica" metro stop. There are several clubs located here, and it is always bustling with activity. Turn right once you exit the metro and walk towards the twin towers. (Total walk time will be around 10 minutes). If you are more keen on playing volleyball instead of simply sprawling in the sun, then head to Bogatell (located near the Bogatell metro stop), where there are plenty of courts and other athletes waiting to play!
If you want to head a little more out of the city, then enjoy Sitges beach, which is almost a 30 minute train ride from the city center. Here, there are 17 different beaches to choose from - everything from nudist to family-friendly!
